Summary

Act 1 Summary

The film opens with a scene of chaos as a plane is attacked mid-air by the now awakened dragon. Dr. Alan Westfield and his family (wife Isabella, and children Ali and Jason) are fleeing England when their flight is nearly struck by a plane crash landing on the freeway. They survive the crash, but their escape is short-lived, as the dragon continues its rampage, attacking survivors.

The family is left to decide their next course of action amidst the destruction. Alan wants to get as far away as possible, but the rest of the family advocates returning to the safety of Wyrmfeld Castle.

A Somali girl named Tanisha (17), who escaped enslavement, and an Indian girl named Samira (9), who lost her parents in the plane crash, join the Westfield’s. As they try to make their way through the teeming masses all trying to reach safety via the Chunnel, the dragon is attracted to the large crowds and feasts upon the luckless.

The family is separated. Alan is missing and presumed dead. Jason is injured while rescuing Samira finding temporary shelter in a hotel basement. Isabella, Ali, and Tanisha begin the arduous trip back to the castle, after hours of walking find a room at a hotel outside of London. During this time, Ali recounts the family history and the legend of the dragon to Tanisha.

The act closes with Alois at Atlas’s grave, expressing regret for not believing his warnings and vowing to protect the family.

Act 2 Summary

Act 2 sees the characters continuing their separate journeys. Jason needs a day to rest his sprained ankle. He sends Samira to the hotel kitchen to retrieve ice. The child is afraid she will get lost, so he recounts the story of Hansel and Gretel, and gives her a roll of toilet paper to use as a trail of breadcrumbs so she can find her way back to their room.  The precocious orphan reads Jason ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban’ while he recuperates.

Isabella, Ali, and Tanisha are picked up by a kindly man named Drew, who is heading to check on his mother. Their journey is interrupted by a Birmingham gang who set up a roadblock on the highway and attempt to rob them. Drew is killed, and the women are taken captive. Isabella bargains her skills as a doctor to treat wounded members of the gang in exchange for the girls’ freedom.

Jason and Samira left the hotel in a stolen sedan and encountered the same roadblock. Jason crashes the car in an attempt to run the blockade and is knocked unconscious. Samira had been taken and given to a predator. He awakens and forces a gang member to lead him to Samira.

Inside the hotel, the delinquents are intent on debauchery. Isabella is being beaten and raped trying to defend the girls. Tanisha is nearly sexually assaulted as Jason arrives and shifts the power dynamic. Ali and Jason use their recent training and fight back. The confrontation is brutal. The moment Tanisha is freed, she stabs Isabella’s rapist to death, then kills her incapacitated would-be rapists in cold blood in a scene that is both cathartic and horrific.

The traumatized group leaves the hotel, unable to locate Samira. As they drive back to the castle, Tanisha says something that triggers a memory only registered in Jason’s subconscious. He returns to the hotel and finds a page from Samira’s book. He follows the trail of papers to a hotel room where rescues her, killing her captor in the process. He is deeply affected by the violence he is forced to commit.

The combined group continues their journey and eventually reaches Wyrmfeld Castle. They are greeted by Alois and others. Ali informs them of Isabella’s injuries, and she is treated. Jason learns of the castle’s preparations and the ongoing archaeological dig.

A flashback reveals Alois confronting the dig site, which is revealed to be more than a simple excavation. He meets Phryxus, who reveals his plans to take over England with the help of the dragon and his gathering force of immortal Zombie Knights. Phryxus explains that the dragon is a force of nature that cannot be controlled and that the military’s attempts to stop it have only provoked it further. The act ends with Phryxus’s plan in motion, as the dragon attacks key locations and the royal family is assassinated.

The military sends recon units to find the origin of the dragon, one such unit arrives at Wyrmfeld Castle where it confronts Phryxus’ mercenaries excavating the land bordering the castle in search of dragon teeth. Dragon teeth are the method whereby the wizard Myrddin Emrys is able to raise immortal warriors: the Children of Hydra.

A firefight breaks out between the soldiers and mercenaries. Alois intervenes by launching projectiles from the castle. This saves the soldiers who retreat to the castle but breaks the fragile truce between Phryxus and Wyrmfeld castle. That night mercenaries attack, and are killed or repelled. Three Zombie Knights attack the castle. Jason rushes after a Zombie Knight into the keep in an attempt to rescue his mother. Alois retreats with Ali, Jiao, Myla and Tanisha to the western wall of the castle. In a desperate plan, he uses the trebuchets to launch them into the lake.

The following morning, Alois is convinced that all within the castle are dead because in their only other encounter with a Zombie Knight (at the end of Legend of Dragonfield) nearly ended in his and Jiao’s death facing one of them. To think Jason could survive was unthinkable. Tanisha notices that the Wyrmfeld code of arms was being raised upside down over the castle. They return to find that Jason had killed a Zombie Knight in single combat using a Damascus steel dagger he took from the castle armory.

Act 3 Summary

The final act begins with a race against the clock. NATO is intending to nuke England if the threat is not contained. The military takes a keen interest in the weapon that gave them their first confirmed kill.  Analysis confirms that there are special properties dagger – fused into the steel is hemoglobin from a non-terrestrial life form. Historical documents found in the castle about the blade describe the forging process, including quenching in dragon’s blood.

Further revelations found in the family histories: “The Wyrmfeld Chronicles” lead to the discovery that as the descendants of the Nephilim Rowena, Jason and Ali have of dynastic inheritance which the Zombie Knights seem to recognize.  These Knights won’t use lethal force against them unless forced. Seeing this as a possible advantage, Ali and Jason are conscripted to accompany the military on a mission to bleed the dragon. Alois joins the quest. Jiao, a Shaolin master and Chinese special forces vet devises a plan.

The act culminates in a confrontation with the dragon. The group arrives in London Stadium, where the dragon is nesting. Jason is tasked with drawing the dragon’s blood, while Ali uses her unique connection to approach the dragon. She distracts the beast in a cunning diversion, approaching the beast in a fire rope dance. Behind her there is a parabolic wall of mirrors that follow behind her in lockstep. While Jason draws its blood, the dragon grows bored of Ali’s fire dance and readies to incinerate her. At that moment, the wall of mirrors falls revealing pairs of soldiers: one guiding the mirror while a second holding a stinger missile.

Missiles fire in unison. A dozen missiles plunge into the dragons’ mouth and explode. It’s head and neck obliterated. Jason becomes trapped in the crux of the dragon’s wing. Alois chops the wing to free Jason but sees the wound healing. They rush to flee with the soldiers, but many are injured due to their proximity to the blast. The neck of the dragon begins to regenerate. Alois strides to the beast like a hero of old. He  drives his battle ax into the dragon’s spine. The neck separates into two, forming two necks. Alois swings his sword, chopping off these growths, but the regeneration out paces his efforts and he is consumed.

Ali, Jason and the soldiers flee with the precious liquid, leaving behind the stadium littered with dragon teeth.
