What question is the film trying to answer?

“Is love stronger than death?” — stated explicitly by Wyrtgeorn, twice, across nine centuries. It’s not just a romantic declaration; it’s the film’s thesis. The medieval story poses it and the modern story puts it to a new test: can the bonds of family — across estrangement, across time, across death itself — outlast everything that tries to sever them? Alan’s arc and Ali’s arc are both answers to that question.

What is Ali’s goal?

On the surface: freedom, independence, and thousands of followers. She came to England wanting a daddy-daughter trip and wound up in a stone fort drafted into an army bootcamp fever-dream—and by the end, she’s storming a tower with a sling and a spear. But even that goal is a symptom of the real one, which is to be someone who matters to the people she loves.

What is the lie she believes?

My future is something I build on my own, separate from where I came from.”

When we meet her she is in a room within a room – as isolated from her family as she can be – and still completely depending upon them. She’s internalized her father’s version of the world: the past is a wound, legacy is a chain, and the bias is to run. She dismisses the legend, skips out on the training, heads to London. Her brother even calls it out directly: “You do you. It’s what you do best.”

The deeper form of the lie is: “I don’t need any of this — the castle, the family, the blood, the old ways.”

The truth the story delivers: she is the old ways. She is Rowena. And her greatest strength — the thing that saves everyone — comes from exactly the lineage and the training she tried to escape. The mysterious Chinese woman, Jiao at the hotel bar puts a pin in it without knowing it: “Your heart knows what is important, but perhaps your head is not listening.”

The Hollywood model is in serious peril. How do you expect this film to compete against TikTok and YouTube?

The same way every underdog has beaten a more powerful adversary: asymmetrical warfare.

Hollywood competes with social media by trying to drag audiences away from their screens. We have no interest in that fight.

Ali Westfield, one of the film’s central characters, is an aspiring influencer. As the film goes into pre-production, the actress playing Ali will blog, post, and build an audience entirely in character — not as promotion, but as story. A shadow narrative running in real time, written and performed as if Ali is a real person whose world is quietly coming apart.

By the time the film arrives, Ali will have the followers she boasts about on screen.

Blair Witch proved in 1999 that audiences will follow a story anywhere if they think it’s real. We’re not borrowing that trick — we’re building it into the franchise from day one. TikTok and YouTube are not our competition. They’re our distribution.

Fantasy movies are notoriously expensive. How do you expect to raise that sort of capital on an untested IP?

I don’t. Nor is it necessary. Contemporary fantasy is not high fantasy. SFX comprises 1.7% of scenes. The film has a small cast, with 7 locations accounting for over 70% of the total scenes. The sequels occur in the same locations allowing for economies of scale. With discipline, this should be able to be produced with a budget comparable to Get Out and A Quiet Place. Investors would be interested to know that principal photography of all three films could be shot at once.

Who is the audience for this film?

I expect this family action-adventure film to have a wide appeal both nationally and internationally. While the twin protagonists are American, the Westfield parents are naturalized citizens, the household identifying strongly with its Latin roots. The enigmatic Jiao will be a major draw for the Chinese market, and the Kenyans represent the global south. The sequels broaden the ethnicity of the cast even further.

A character looks like Arnold. Is that a coincidence?

No. The character of Alois Wintersteller was written specifically for Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger.

The state of AI video far from mature and cannot begin to capture the true vision of the script, the performance of actors and the craft of the director. In particular, current models will simply not allow for many of the action scenes.

The world of the Wyrmfeld Chronicles is a rich tapestry woven from threads of Georgian and Greek mythologies, Arthurian legend, and the early history of Britannia. The Table Reading score will give a sense of the vibe that inspired this project. Thank you for visiting.
